Authentication

When you login with your username and password, DMOZ identifies you to the system, and ensures your personalized profile settings are remembered.

What is My Password?

Unless you have changed it since, your password will be the one you specified when you applied to become an editor

I Can't Remember My Password, What Can I Do?

Use the password reminder, and it will be sent to the e-mail address specified on your profile.

How Can I Change My Password?

Simply go to the change password form (linked from your dashboard), and follow the instructions. Note: only the first eight characters are relevant. i.e. a password of iguanasoup is equivalent to iguanaso .

Where's the Logout Option?

Due to the authentication method used by DMOZ, you are automatically logged out when you close all active browser windows at the end of a session. So in normal circumstances you won't need to specifically log out.

However if you are using a public computer to edit, or are otherwise unable to close all browser windows, there is a logout option:

  1. Go to http://www.thesnowman.com/linkdir/logout/
  2. Enter an incorrect username and password.
  3. After confirming the dialogue box, you will be logged off.

(This procedure may not work on certain versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer.)
