Snowdogs: Tails in Wales raises a paw-some sum for local children’s hospice

Snowdogs: Tails In Wales, the latest collaboration between publishers Penguin Random House, public art producers Wild in Art and children’s hospice Tŷ Hafan, has raised over £173,000!

Inspired by The Snowman™ and The Snowdog animation, the sequel to Raymond Briggs’ classic picture book and film The Snowman™, this incredible, interactive art trail raised much needed funds for location children’s hospice Tŷ Hafan. Across the trail, families and school groups were invited to visit as many dogs on the trail as they could, checking in via a specially created trail app when they were spotted.

More than forty 1.5m tall sculptures were placed at South Wales’ most iconic locations to form a 10 week trail. Each Snowdog was individually designed and named by an artist before being sponsored by a local business.

The most popular Snowdog was called Enfys, which means ‘Rainbow’ in welsh (picture below). Enfys recorded an incredible 227,619 check-ins recorded on the app – equal to 67% of the population of Cardiff!

Funds were also raised through the auction of the Snowdogs at the end of the trail and through the Tails in Wales Learning Programme, which saw over forty local schools and youth groups decorate their own Snowpups and run their own fund raising projects.
